WhatsApp Chat Widget
A website chat widget routed through Wavy is planned — not available today.
A WhatsApp chat widget would let you embed a floating click-to-chat button on your website that opens a WhatsApp conversation with your business number and routes the inbound message into your Wavy workspace inbox. This capability is planned. No embeddable script, widget component, or floating-button snippet has been built. The workspace inbox can receive messages through the Meta webhook, but there is no website-side widget that generates those conversations.
What does not exist
Removed from this page because it is not built.
The following were referenced in placeholder content but are not part of any live widget offering.
- Embeddable widget script — There is no JavaScript snippet, script tag, or npm package that renders a WhatsApp chat widget on a website. No embed code has been published.
- Floating click-to-chat button — No floating button component exists that, when clicked, opens a WhatsApp conversation with a pre-filled message and routes it to a Wavy workspace.
- Widget configuration UI — There is no workspace UI for customising widget appearance, greeting text, position, or target phone number. The channel record stores phone details, but no widget consumes them.
- Widget analytics — There is no tracking for widget impressions, clicks, or conversation-start events. No analytics object exists for a widget that has not been built.
What does exist
The inbox can receive — the widget that would send is not built.
Wavy's inbox is wired to process inbound messages, but it has no website-side counterpart that generates them.
- Inbound webhook receiver — The
/webhooks/metaendpoint receives inbound WhatsApp messages, verifies signatures, and persists them to conversations. This is the receiving end — but a widget would be the sending end. - Team inbox — The inbox API lists conversations, assigns them to team members, and supports bot handoff. This is the human-facing side of inbound messaging.
- Channel records — Channels store the phone number and WABA details. A widget would reference a channel, but no widget code reads from a channel today.
- wa.me link alternative — You can manually create a wa.me link with your business number and share it. This is a standard WhatsApp deep link, not a Wavy widget, and it does not route through the workspace inbox automatically.
The intended path
What a chat widget would look like when built.
If and when a WhatsApp chat widget is built, the intended path would produce an embeddable script or component that renders a floating button on a website. When a visitor clicks it, the widget would open a WhatsApp conversation with the business number from a selected channel, optionally pre-fill a greeting message, and ensure the resulting inbound message is routed to the correct Wavy workspace via the existing webhook receiver.
The widget would need its own configuration surface — phone number selection, greeting text, position, and theme — and would likely be served from a dedicated embed domain to avoid CORS and content-security-policy issues. None of that work has been started. This page will be updated and the noindex directive removed when a widget reaches a configuration-dependent state.
Questions
WhatsApp chat widget — straight answers.
Can I embed a WhatsApp chat widget on my website today?
No. There is no embeddable script, floating button, or widget component. The capability is planned but not built.
Does the Wavy inbox receive messages from a widget?
The inbox receives messages through the Meta webhook, but there is no widget that generates them. A visitor would need to initiate a WhatsApp conversation with your business number directly for the inbox to receive it.
Can I use a wa.me link instead?
Yes, you can manually create a wa.me link with your business number and share it on your website. This is a standard WhatsApp deep link, not a Wavy widget. It opens WhatsApp directly but does not provide custom branding, greeting text, or analytics.
Will a chat widget be added in the future?
It is a planned capability. When it reaches a configuration-dependent state — an embeddable script exists and routes to a workspace inbox — this page will be updated and the noindex directive removed.
Is there a widget analytics dashboard?
No. No widget exists, so no analytics object, impression tracking, or click-to-conversation funnel has been built.
The widget is planned, not shipped.
