WhatsApp Voice Calling
Voice calling through Wavy is planned — not available today.
WhatsApp voice calling would let a business place or receive voice calls through the WhatsApp platform, route them to team members, and optionally transcribe or summarise them. Wavy's backend handles text and template messaging, automation rules, and AI-powered text features — but no voice calling path, call API, call-routing logic, or voice transcription integration has been built. The WhatsApp Cloud API used by Wavy's client does not expose voice calling endpoints in the current integration. This page is not indexed because the capability is not live.
What does not exist
Removed from this page because it is not built.
The following were referenced in placeholder content but are not part of any live voice calling offering.
- Voice call API — The WhatsApp Cloud API client in the backend calls the messaging endpoint. There is no voice call initiation, call status, or call hangup endpoint in the integration. Voice calling is not part of the current WhatsApp Cloud API surface that Wavy uses.
- Call routing and assignment — The inbox API assigns text conversations to team members, but there is no call-queue, real-time call distribution, or call-transfer logic. No call object exists in the data model.
- Call transcription — AI Copilot can summarise text conversations when an LLM key is configured, but it does not transcribe audio. There is no speech-to-text integration or audio processing path.
- Call recording and playback — There is no call recording storage, no audio file object, and no playback interface. No audio is captured or stored.
- Voice analytics — There are no call-duration metrics, call-outcome tracking, or voice-channel performance reports. No call data is ingested.
What does exist
The text-based features that are built — and why they are not voice.
Wavy has messaging, automation, and AI text features. None of them process audio.
- Text and template messaging — The WhatsApp client sends text and template messages when configured. This is a written communication channel, not a voice channel.
- Text conversation summaries — Copilot can summarise text conversations when an LLM key is set. This is text-to-text summarisation, not audio transcription.
- Automation rules for text — The rules engine evaluates inbound text messages and can send text replies. There is no trigger for voice calls because no call events arrive.
- Inbox for text conversations — The team inbox lists and manages text conversations. It does not handle voice calls, call queues, or real-time call distribution.
The intended path
What voice calling would look like if the API supports it.
If and when WhatsApp voice calling is built, it would depend on Meta exposing voice calling endpoints in the WhatsApp Cloud API — which the current integration does not include. The intended path would need a call initiation and status API, a real-time call routing layer in the inbox, an audio storage and playback system for recordings, and a speech-to-text integration for transcription.
None of that work has been started, and the API surface to support it is not part of Wavy's current WhatsApp client. This page will be updated and the noindex directive removed only if a voice calling path reaches a configuration-dependent state — meaning an API endpoint exists, the source is workspace-scoped, and it can be enabled with provider setup. Until then, no voice calling capability should be assumed.
Questions
WhatsApp voice calling — straight answers.
Can I make or receive WhatsApp voice calls through Wavy?
No. There is no voice calling path, call API, or call-routing logic in the backend. The WhatsApp client sends text and template messages only.
Does the WhatsApp Cloud API support voice calling?
The current WhatsApp Cloud API integration that Wavy uses does not expose voice calling endpoints. Wavy's client calls the messaging endpoint for text and template sends. Voice calling is not part of the current API surface.
Can Wavy transcribe voice messages?
No. AI Copilot can summarise text conversations when an LLM key is configured, but there is no speech-to-text integration or audio processing path. Voice notes sent in WhatsApp are not transcribed.
Is there a call recording or playback feature?
No. There is no call recording storage, no audio file object, and no playback interface. No audio is captured or stored.
Will voice calling be added in the future?
It is a planned capability, but it depends on Meta exposing voice calling endpoints in the WhatsApp Cloud API. This page will be updated and the noindex directive removed only if a voice calling path reaches a configuration-dependent state.
